OVERVIEW
Graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Distinction) with a major in Creative Writing, this portfolio serves as a glimpse into the projects Kerrin has been a part of and their successes.
Proficient in copyediting, proofreading and substantive editing, Kerrin offered her assistance free of charge during her degree to peers, relatives and friends to gain practice and experience in her desired field. As she became more widely known in her class as the Trusted Editor, she was asked to Chief Edit a project known as 'Empty House'—a blend of soundscape, poetry and art which is currently in the making.
She continues to write and produce creative works as part of her studies, but her passion truly lies in the realm of working with the creativity of others and producing exceptional, engaging and wonderful works.
MAIN PROJECTS
Empty House/Dysania
TIDE Volume 12, issue 1 2022
Fiction
Empty House, previously known as Dysania is a project that incorporates music and poetry to create and artistic soundscape of experience. As Chief Editor of this project, Kerrin works within a team of artists, but is closest to poet Damien Robbie: creator of the written aspect of the artwork. The editing process for his works of different than standard editing as Kerrin ensures the poems suit the sound elements that the musicians present to the team. Overall, she assists with line editing, copyediting and proofreading of his works.
TIDE is a yearly publication of creative works that is put together by the writing sector of the University of Wollongong. In 2022, Kerrin was a member of the editing team for this publication, and was responsible for: creating and maintaining a style guide, the final proofread of all publications, and answering questions from individual editors. In this project, Kerrin also worked on a fictional piece by Robbie Tighe, which was included in the final publication.
Over the years Kerrin has worked on countless small and large fictional works, ranging from short stories, to poetry, to experimental artworks. For each of these projects, Kerrin keeps up her usual practice of substantial, line and copyediting, with proofreading as a usual bonus. In participating in these works, Kerrin has maintained a consistent punctuality of reply, and answered questions to the best of my ability. The students, teachers and clients Kerrin has helped have all been ecstatic with the results they produce together.
